Welcome to Christmas at Blackthorpe Barn online 2020
Welcome back to Christmas at Blackthorpe Barn in our strange new world.
Things have changed so much since we were open for Christmas last year. Who would have imagined what was about to happen to us all? However, we are determined to make some good to come out of all this, hopefully, a lot of good, and we start with a huge thank you. This goes of course to the absolutely brilliant NHS workers who have worked so hard and risked their own lives for us and for others throughout these last months. We have arranged our own special way of saying thank you to them, see below!
We also want to celebrate the NHS workers and their huge achievement here on the Blackthorpe Barn website and on social media. So, we have specially designed a new logo for Blackthorpe Barn online using lovely rainbow colours, some stars and the moon to symbolise hope for us all and as a reminder not to forget those who have lost friends and family during this time.
As you can see we have gone online for most of our events during the 2020 season. As part of the care and love that we feel to you, our wonderful customers and staff; without whom we would simply not exist; we have decided that is it not safe at to fill the Barn with the usual Christmas crowds. It is obvious really that social distancing would just not be possible at our busy, busy Christmas event, spread out over its many weeks. We cannot tell what is going to happen over the next few months but we have had to make a decision and we have chosen to put safety first. We have been working hard over the whole spring and summer, planning how we can make everything work, trying to keep as much of our Christmas magic as we can. So this is what is going to happen.
Our Country Christmas Shop will be going online totally for the entire season, but to help to make up for it, we are going to be opening three weeks earlier than ever before! We shall be open online from 1 October until 22 December. There will be a Click and Collect service from the Country Christmas Shop on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, or when trees are on sale or, if you prefer, you can have goods couriered straight to your home.
Our glorious Crafts weekends will also be going online. The safety of our makers is equally important. Have a look at the Crafts area to see how this is going to work.
Our much-loved café will not be able to open indoors, so Liz is going to be serving her wonderful tasty goodies from the Café Kiosk in the courtyard during the times we are open for Click and Collect or to sell trees. Payment will be cashless.
We are pleased to say that Christmas trees will be on sale at the Barn in the usual way from 27 November. As it all happens outside we feel that this is a great deal safer. The tree payment kiosk will be open and our lovely wrappers will be there to serve you. We will also be running the very popular Pick Your Own Tree service again this year. Just remember, book and pay in advance online for this or at the tree kiosk. Please note we have also gone totally cashless in the tree kiosk. Now, this is a really good bit! For the 2020 season only and as a special thank you to all NHS workers, we will be offering a 10% discount on cut trees to them on the production of their NHS staff identification badge. Only one tree each please!
Santa’s Grotto has also gone online. We have developed a brilliant way to run this. Visit the Grotto section to find out more.
In a normal year, we help raise thousands of pounds for our favourite charities through volunteers at the Barn with collection buckets and tins. That is not going to so be possible this year, so we have arranged for donation buttons to be placed on the checkout section of the site, where you can make your usual donations. We know how charities are suffering at the moment. Let’s help them out here too!
Next year will be our 30th birthday, and we are determined to try to be back to normal for that! There will be a huge celebration when the time comes, but in the meantime enjoy our fabulous website, follow us on your favourite social media, have a fabulous Christmas and above all stay safe!
