Welcome to our new cafe, Roots, nestled in the heart of the Blackthorpe Barn complex on the wider Rougham Estate. With a storied history spanning decades, this location is more than just a cafe, this will be a cosy gathering spot for the community, open throughout the year.
From breakfast through to afternoon tea, we hope Roots will become your go-to destination for any time of day. Everyone is welcome: families and cyclists, dog walkers and those in search of a chill-out spot, friends looking for a convenient out-of-town location to meet up; here at Roots, you’ll experience the warm, inclusive buzz of our community.
When you step inside, you’ll find an ambiance that beautifully blends the rich history of Rougham Estate with a touch of modern, quirky elegance. Our decor echoes local stories, each piece reflecting a unique chapter of the Estate’s tale. Our appeal won’t be just visual; we will be bringing Suffolk’s finest to your table with a menu of locally-sourced dishes and refreshments, every bite and sip at Roots a toast to our beautiful surroundings.
Roots café will be opening on Wednesday 18th October
Roots Café will be a destination serving delicious snacks and main dishes, showcasing the best locally-sourced seasonal ingredients, alongside delightful treats that really do taste as good as they look.
Vegans and vegetarians will be catered for, ensuring everyone can fully enjoy their dining experience. While we will do our utmost to accommodate dietary and allergy requirements, gluten, nuts and animal products will be used in our kitchen and so we cannot 100% guarantee any cross-contamination.
The café is located in the Blackthorpe Barn courtyard, combining the old-world charm of the former floristry building, with its red brick walls and huge fireplace, with modern and unusual flourishes. Outside seating will be available for those wishing to remain outside.
Fancy a stroll or a bike ride? The Rougham Estate offers 18 miles of public footpaths and popular cycle routes, plus additional permissive paths; it’s the perfect way to make a day of your visit! So why not drop by when we open in October, to experience the charm of Roots? We can’t wait to welcome you!
