The cafe is also open during Artworks and can be found at the far end of the thatched barn

With its reputation for high standards of fresh and contemporary work, Artworks seeks to interest and inspire in a wide range of media created by 30 of East Anglia’s leading artists.

A highlight of the East Anglian art scene, the Artworks exhibition in 2021 is our 21st annual exhibition and we will be open for two weeks from 25th September to 10th October 2021.

This is a great opportunity to see contemporary 2D and 3D work by 30 of East Anglia’s established and popular artists. All the exhibits are new to the Artworks each year and are for sale. There are also daily opportunities to meet the artists at the exhibition.

As always, there are a number of guest artists exhibiting with the group and this year it is with much pleasure that the group welcomes Zoe Rubens, Louise Chapman, Antonia Hockton, Iona Howard, Evelyn Polk and Laurie Rudling. Each guest artist works in a different medium but each demonstrates excellence in his or her field.

A great favourite of the exhibition is the Mini Artworks Prize Draw; thirty mini artworks created by the Artworks artists will be on display during the main exhibition and the proceeds benefit their Schools Programme and a chosen East Anglian charity which this year is the Suffolk Accident Rescue Service

The setting for the exhibition is the spectacular thatched, late medieval Blackthorpe Barn, part of the Rougham Estate and there is a cafe serving drinks and snacks and ample parking.

Images from 2018 Exhibition

Blackthorpe Barn was built in c.1550 as a threshing barn on lands that formerly belonged to the Benedictine abbey at Bury St. Edmunds. The barn remained in use as such until 1985 when it received a new lease of life as an arts centre.
