The Courtyard Café at Blackthorpe Barn

We offer light lunches, homemade cakes, scones and sandwiches. We have all of the usual favourites and a few specials each week.

Escape from any hustle and bustle and enjoy a relaxing break at The Courtyard Café, within the Blackthorpe Barn complex. Run by Liz and her friendly team at Karat Catering, the café is the perfect place to relax and enjoy a bite to eat.
It’s a destination renowned for serving delicious snacks and main dishes that showcase the best locally-sourced seasonal ingredients, alongside delightful treats that really do taste as good as they look.
The café is located in the Blackthorpe Barn Courtyard, combining the old-world charm of the former floristry building with its red brick walls and huge fireplace. Outside seating is available for those wishing to remain outside.
Homemade Favourites and Tasty Treats
All the tasty food is made by Liz herself in the Courtyard Café’s new state-of-the-art kitchen. On offer will be all manner of popular favourites such as homemade sausage rolls, scones baked freshly every day, delicious soups to warm up the coldest of visitors, savoury tarts, the most enticing cakes, bacon rolls and the ever-popular cherry Bakewell slice. The menu changes every day.
Tea, coffee and delicious hot chocolate are essential staples, and Liz’s friendly staff will be on hand to serve you with a welcoming smile.
Courtyard Chalets
There are two little “chalets” in the Courtyard which are available to be booked for a bit more of a private afternoon tea. Please contact Liz (details below).
Food Intolerances
Vegetarian and vegan foods are available every day, and options for people with food intolerances, are regularly on the menu (e.g., gluten-free and dairy-free). If you have a specific intolerance and would like to check if you are able to enjoy food from the Courtyard Café, please get in touch with Liz directly.
Staying Safe
- Our tables are available for groups of up to 6 people and all tables are socially distanced.
- Please use the hand sanitiser, available in the courtyard and in the toilets.
- The Courtyard Café takes payment cards only (no cash).
- Dogs on leads are welcome in the courtyard (please remember your bags for accidents), and also in the café.
Opening Times
The Courtyard Café is only open at specific times during the year. If you would like to visit at times other than during the Christmas at Blackthorpe Barn festival, please check back on this page for updated opening dates, and also on our social media, where we will advertise the café’s openings.
